May 2024 Events

May is crazy for so many reasons when you’re a teacher…when you’re a student…when you’re both!

But I’m hanging in there. It helps to have some exciting things to look forward to. Here are a couple I’m excited to share:

The Mutable Hour brought to you by Mutabilis Press

Wednesday, May 15 – The Mutable Hour hosted by Mutabilis Press – 7 pm CST via Zoom, Featured Reader. Email mutabilispress@gmail.com for the link to register.

This is a great reading series with some great poets.

Poetry at Kojak's presented by hotpoet ink featuring John Milkereit and Courtney O'Banion Smith

Friday, May 17 – Poetry at Kojak’s hosted by hotpoet ink – 5:45 Round Robin, 7 pm Featured Reader.

The first 10 people get a free glass of wine! Grab your poems and share them while you grab a bite at Kojak’s. Then, stick around to hear me and my fellow poet, John Milkereit.  If you know the mastermind behind this, Kelly Ann Ellis, you know it’ll be great.

In/Fidelity – 2022 Catherine Case Lubbe Manuscript Winner

My manuscript, In/Fidelity, was selected as the winner of the 2022 Catherine Case Lubbe Manuscript Contest hosted by the Poetry Society of Texas! The book is in production and should be out soon. I am so honored and thrilled that my manuscript was chosen by Bruce Bond, one of my favorite contemporary poets.

Parts of this book were 20 years in the making.  A huge thanks to the selection committee and PST for their dedication and continued contributions to poetry in Texas and beyond.
